Tech billionaire and biohacker Bryan Johnson, known globally for his extreme anti-aging protocol called Project Blueprint, has announced plans to sell or step away from the daily operations of the venture. The announcement has sparked intense interest in the future of Blueprint and Johnson’s evolving mission in the fields of longevity, AI, and human performance.
Bryan Johnson is an American entrepreneur best known for founding Braintree, the payment platform that acquired Venmo and was later sold to PayPal for $800 million in 2013. Using the wealth from that acquisition, Johnson went on to fund scientific ventures including:
OS Fund – investing $100 million into genomics, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence.
Kernel – a neurotech company developing brain-monitoring devices.
Project Blueprint – his most personal experiment to slow or reverse aging.
Project Blueprint is Johnson’s ambitious longevity experiment, where he spends over $2 million per year attempting to lower his biological age. His protocol includes:
Taking over 100 supplements daily
Following a strict vegan diet and exercise regimen
Monitoring dozens of biomarkers daily
Engaging in experimental treatments like plasma transfusions
According to his internal tests, Johnson has reportedly achieved the biological age of an 18-year-old, despite being in his late 40s.
However, the intense nature of the protocol and public scrutiny has brought challenges.
In July 2025, Johnson revealed in a Business Insider interview that he is looking to sell or exit Blueprint, calling it a “pain-in-the-ass company.”
“If someone wants to buy Blueprint and take over the operational side of it, please do. I’ll be your first customer,” Johnson said.
He expressed frustration over the business side of Blueprint, stating that it was never his intention to run it as a full-time company, but rather as a platform to share and test scientific methods to improve health and longevity.
Johnson also shared that he has grown weary of the commercial obligations tied to Blueprint and wishes to refocus his energy on philosophical pursuits, AI safety, and public health discourse.
Johnson is actively considering offers or partnerships for someone to take over Blueprint’s operations. He wants to remain a user and advocate, but not a manager.
He has shown increased interest in how artificial intelligence and humans can co-exist, and has said this area deserves more of his attention.
Although Johnson plans to sell the company, he has no plans to stop his anti-aging protocol. He intends to remain the face of biohacking and longevity science, albeit with less commercial pressure.
The announcement has triggered mixed responses:
Supporters see this as a smart move to avoid burnout and allow more focus on thought leadership.
Critics question the sustainability of Blueprint and its scientific validity, especially considering Johnson has discontinued some treatments like plasma transfusions after finding no benefits.
Despite this, Bryan Johnson remains a symbol of the biohacking movement, having brought mainstream attention to the field of aging science and preventive healthcare.
Bryan Johnson’s decision to sell his anti-aging company Blueprint highlights an important transition in his career—from operator to visionary. While he steps away from day-to-day management, he continues to push the boundaries of human health, technology, and ethical innovation.
His journey demonstrates the power and pitfalls of being the subject and CEO of a scientific experiment, and his legacy will likely continue to influence longevity research for years to come.
