Scams In Air Duct Cleaning Services And How To Avoid Them

Like in any other industry, air duct cleaning services are also an area that scammers and fraudsters target. As a homeowner, you should be cautious not to be a victim of these scams when you need your air ducts cleaned. There are so many ways in which you can encounter scams, and different situations require different reactions.

Surprisingly, there has been a rapid increase in the cases of scammers in the duct cleaning business. This is because most fraudsters exploit clueless and innocent homeowners needing the services. Read on to discover some of the scams in air duct cleaning services and how to avoid them.

  • Too Good To Be True Deals

It is human nature to be enticed by cheap things to save money. However, this, most of the time, ends up working to their disadvantage.

Regarding air duct cleaning services, some technicians may offer very high discounts to deliver the services. Some discounts are reasonable, but you should be careful when the discount needs to make more sense because every business is in for profit.

What usually happens with good-to-be-true deals is that the technicians will demand more money with the claims of extra work that came up during the process. At the end of the process, you pay more than you could have under normal circumstances.

To avoid such scams, don’t be a lover of free things. Always ensure you have quotes on the services you should pay for. This way, if the technician quotes extra services that are not indicated, you can defend yourself by referring them to the services you expected and what you are willing to pay for.

Discounts and low prices are good for your pockets, but think twice when the deal is too good to be true!

  • Unexpected Calls From The Sales Pitch

Some scammers will find your contact information online and contact you, explaining how they were referred to you by certain known companies. They will tell you that you must deposit a certain amount of money so that they can come and provide the services.

When you deposit the money, you never hear from them again, and that is how you lose your money.

Some scammers will try to enquire about your personal information for other evil plans. If you get such calls, it is wise to hang up immediately because the scammers may be convincing if you let them. Most of these scammers and fraudsters have experience with the same and maybe convincing, especially if you must be more attentive to details.

  • Social Media Scams

Unfortunately, scammers are now taking advantage of social media. These scammers create fake profiles and advertising services they do not offer to target their victims.

Once homeowners try to reach out for their services, they will take advantage and try to pull out their scams, such as asking for money.

To avoid such scams, ensure that you work with a well-known company. If possible, seek recommendations from friends and family to ensure the company is legit.

  • Door-To-Door Walk Scams

This is another common scam that homeowners may need to realize. Some scammers may walk up to your doorstep and inform you about cleaning the air ducts and how good they are.

Most homeowners think that it is a good thing because it saves them the trouble of going through the process of finding an expert.

These scammers will ask for a lot of money. Some are not even professionals and will pretend to provide service and then ask for money.

If you complain about the poor services, these people will be rude and demand quick pay, which scares most homeowners to fall for their demands.

To avoid this scam, always ask for proof of business which is a license from local authorities, before you agree to work with anyone. Take your time to evaluate the license because some of these scammers go to the extent of faking the certification.

Again, be bold and go through the right process of getting a legit company for the services. Shortcuts often don’t lead to nice endings. Do your research about a company before you let any technicians work in your home.
