Use the headache remedies provided here if you want to better manage your headaches at home.

Headaches are very common in today’s world. Nobody likes them — that’s for sure.

Some of the main causes of headaches include:

  • Dehydration
  • Tiredness
  • Too much screen time

There are plenty of other headache causes, too, but those are some of the most common ones.

Whenever you get one of those nasty headaches, it can cause you severe pain. Sometimes, headaches can even ruin your day entirely and leave you bedridden. Of course, this is something you don’t want to happen, which is why the five headache remedies in this guide are going to be helpful to you.

What Should I Do If My Headaches Won’t Go Away?

If you’ve been trying to get rid of your headaches, but they’re still persisting after a couple of weeks, it’s recommended that you go and see your doctor. On top of this, you should also visit physio Penrith. By getting treatment for stiffness and tension in your muscles from a physiotherapist, you can reduce the impact of headaches and migraines. Your physiotherapist might even discover that your headaches are being caused by a specific problem, such as postural misalignment, which you can then receive treatment for.

5 Headache Remedies to Try

If you happen to have come down with a headache out of nowhere and want to eliminate it quickly, then try any of the following five headache remedies:

  • Drink Water

Dehydration is one of the leading causes of headaches. You can quickly put an end to your dehydration by drinking an adequate amount of water. Make sure that you drink water every day in order to prevent future headaches from occurring.

  • Use a Cold Compress

By using a cold compress, such as an icepack, you can drastically reduce the pain caused by your headache. Apply the ice to your head for around 15 to 20 minutes at a time until you start to notice a difference. Many people report that this works for them, so it’s definitely worth trying.

  • Cut Out the Alcohol

If you’ve been drinking a lot of alcohol recently, take a break from it.

Alcohol contains ethanol, a chemical that (once inside the body) can lead to headaches and migraines.

As mentioned above, switch out the alcohol for water. It should help.

  • Take a Break from Screens

These days, people spend their lives glued to screens, from scrolling smartphones to playing video games. Failure to control your screen time can lead to digital eyestrain, which then usually leads to headaches. Not to mention, too much screentime can lead to your posture worsening, which is another big factor behind neck tension and headaches.

  • Avoid Overuse of Painkillers

Ironically, overusing painkillers can actually make headaches worse. Therefore, don’t make the mistake of taking too many painkillers, as this can exasperate the problem and cause a vicious cycle. Instead, only take the recommended amounts. If you see no results from your painkillers, this is when you need to go and speak with your doctor.
