It’s no secret that gambling is an incredibly popular activity that lots of different people do. It’s also no secret that this activity has risen quite dramatically in popularity within the past decade or so, thanks to the introduction of different online casino companies. There are a variety of different games available for people who enjoy playing online gambling games, but without a doubt, one of the oldest and most popular is poker. Poker is an incredibly accessible game; though there is luck involved, there are also skillful elements for players to explore, which allow them to become truly immersed in the strategy of the game. There are also a few different types of poker available for people to play, which will be discussed in more detail below.

Where Can You Play Different Poker Games?

Read below and choose the poker game that you think sounds the best; however, you should consider giving them all a go at some point. There are specialist sites, such as Les Ambassadeurs, which host all different kinds of poker games; they can be played as a game or with a live dealer, depending on how much you would like to recreate the actual casino experience. So, what are some of the different poker games available to you?

Texas Hold’em

One of the classic forms of poker is Texas Hold’em. It’s the best place to start if you’re new to the game, as it only consists of four stages that you will go through when playing the game. These are:

  • The Pre-flop: Each player is dealt two different cards, face down, which they are allowed to look at.
  • The Flop: This is when there are three cards dealt face up in the middle of the table. These are called ‘community’ cards.
  • The Turn: The turn is where you are given a fourth card.
  • The River: Finally, at the river, you are given a fifth card.

After every step, each player places a bet where they can choose whether or not they would like to continue playing. The aim is to make the best five-card hand on the table. You can put faith into your hand or try to bluff to scare your rivals out of continuing.

Omaha

Omaha is quite similar to Texas Hold’em, but there is a twist. When people play Omaha, players get four cards at the beginning instead of two, and then there are only allowed to continue with two cards. There is also no choice to opt-out (even if luck isn’t on your side), as everybody needs to play until the end.

Five-Card Draw

This poker version predominantly revolves around the cards you’re dealt; however, there is also a little bit of room available for strategy. The goal is to get the best five-card hand out of everyone else at the table, but you do have the ability whilst the game is going on to exchange up to three cards. This gives you a chance to improve your hand, but there is a risk involved where you might make your hand worse.
