After a long tiring day, everyone wants to relax and have some peace of mind. Though there are various ways to relax, none are universal. For example, some people prefer coffee, while some prefer alcohol or cannabis. However, the problem with cannabis is that it produces a potent high causing the inability to drive. Driving while being ‘high’ on any substance is a severe offense. Besides inviting legal action, driving while being high is an irresponsible behavior that causes a risk to life.

So, what are the options if someone wants to relax just after work or while driving? Several natural products, such as cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), may help uplift mood and promote relaxation. Of the two, CBD doesn’t produce a high, but the THC does, and there are several forms of THC, such as delta 8 and delta 9. In most cases, delta 9 is referred to as THC because it is most prevalent in the cannabis plant. Yet, it is not legal everywhere. People in Pennsylvania, for example, can only purchase it if they need it for a medical condition. After being evaluated by a doctor, patients can obtain a medical marijuana card in Pennsylvania and have access to cannabis products.

You can buy best delta 8 THC vape juice online from several reputed websites and retailers. Most online retailers provide a certificate of analysis for their products that guarantees it is safe to consume. Due to this, one should be careful while buying delta 8 products from anywhere.

Delta 8 is a minor cannabinoid in minute quantities in cannabis and hemp plants. However, its low availability made it unprofitable to extract from the cannabis plant. So, delta 8 is prepared by using CBD in labs through isomerization. Due to this, delta 8 flowers are nothing more than hemp flowers with delta 8 added to them.

Though delta 8 is not available in high quantities in the cannabis plant, it also doesn’t cause a potent ‘high’ reaction. Moreover, the United States laws also say that all THC products are legal if they contain less than 0.3% THC (delta 9). Due to this, the high produced through delta 8 is often called the ‘legal high.’

Can you smoke delta 8 flowers before driving?

Though delta 8 flowers are entirely legal at the federal level in the United States, it may not be safe to consume delta 8 before driving. No matter how weak delta 8 is, it still produces a ‘high’ effect. Moreover, from the legal perspective, it may seem that delta 8 and delta 9 are different, but they look the same on drug tests.

Delta 8 is the newest THC member of the cannabis-based industry. Due to this, the most significant risk with it is regulation. While there are clear laws regarding cannabis, most cannabis extracted products lie in a gray area. Apart from the 0.3% THC levels, no more regulations are in place. Due to this, many manufacturers use shady tactics to increase potency.

Though an accidental overdose of pure delta 8 can’t cause death directly, impure delta 8 would be fatal for anybody. As the hemp market isn’t much regulated, there is a chance of contamination during manufacturing. These contaminants could be from residual chemicals to pesticides, heavy metals, and mold. While buying, make sure to purchase delta 8 THC online from a reliable source; if not, it may cause a potent ‘high’ or health problem. Besides, when you smoke delta 8 flowers, the effects kick in pretty quickly.

In smoking, delta 8 directly reaches the lung’s surface, and through diffusion, it gets into the bloodstream. This process is faster than other delivery methods, such as edibles and tinctures. Due to the quick absorption, delta 8 flowers show their effects quite fast, making you a little bit ‘high.’ While this little ‘high’ may not cause a problem for seasoned users, it can cause some discomfort to new users. Thus, it would be wise not to smoke high quantities of delta 8 flowers before driving.

Where can you smoke delta 8 flowers?

While delta 8 flowers are legal on the federal level, in different states, rules may differ. The federal laws don’t say anything specific regarding the transport of delta 8. It is illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis, leading to a DUI. Due to this, you should take proper caution while driving after smoking delta 8 flowers.

At present, delta 8 flowers are legal in as many as 32 states, So let’s see some of them:

  • Alabama: Smoking THC flowers is now legal in Alabama. In 2021, the state removed delta 8 and delta 10 products from the controlled substance in April 2021.
  • Arkansas: The state has replaced the older hemp bill, thanks to which smoking delta 8 is now legal in Arkansas.
  • Florida: For the time being, delta 8 is legal in Florida. However, it could change as a new bill is waiting to be passed.
  • Hawaii: Smoking delta 8 is legal here. However, you can’t use delta 8 edibles or inhalable products.
  • Massachusetts: If you live in Massachusetts, you can freely smoke delta 8 or any other recreational marijuana product.
  • Missouri: All hemp-derived products are legal in Missouri, including delta 8 flowers.

Apart from these states, smoking Delta 8 is also legal in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and North Carolina, among others. Similarly, it is regulated as recreational cannabis in states such as Connecticut and Michigan. Currently, smoking delta 8 is illegal in 13 states, namely, Alaska, Washington, Colorado, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Dakota, Nevada, New York, Montana, Iowa, and Idaho. Apart from these states, the law regarding delta 8 is unclear in Arizona, Mississippi, and California.

Lastly, delta 8 THC is lawful in the United States, but it doesn’t mean that anyone can drive under its influence. While existing drug tests can detect the use of THC, traces of THC remain in the human body for more extended periods. Moreover, scientists are not sure how to measure the level of THC in the blood that can cause impairment.

THC doesn’t have any measurement, unlike alcohol, where there is a clear limit of 0.08 blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Still, THC affects the ability to drive and maintain focus in addition to slow reflexes. Due to this, it’s not wise to smoke delta 8 flower before driving. So that roads will be safer for everyone if no one drives under the influence of any psychoactive substance.
