Jolly LLB 3 Faces Multiple Legal Hurdles: PILs Over ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’ Song & Teaser

Bollywood’s much-anticipated courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, continues to grab headlines ahead of its release on September 19, 2025. After a PIL in the Madhya Pradesh High Court challenged its song Bhai Vakeel Hai, the Gujarat High Court has now stepped in over objections to the film’s teaser.

Gujarat High Court on Teaser Controversy

On September 11, 2025, the Gujarat High Court heard a plea filed by a litigant who claimed the teaser of Jolly LLB 3 contained “vulgar words” that undermine the dignity of the court. The petitioner, appearing in person before Justice Niral R. Mehta, argued that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) wrongly certified the teaser.

The court directed the CBFC’s counsel to respond regarding the petitioner’s representation, which had been filed on August 13, 2025 (a day after the teaser’s release). The CBFC assured the court that the complaint will be decided on or before September 16, 2025.

During the hearing, the Gujarat High Court also referred the petitioner to the Allahabad High Court’s earlier order, which had dismissed a similar petition against the film. The matter is now listed for further hearing on September 16.

Madhya Pradesh HC Hearing on ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh High Court will hear a PIL on September 12, 2025, regarding the controversial song Bhai Vakeel Hai. The petitioner claims that lyrics such as “package deals” and “judge ko mamu banana” are derogatory to the judiciary. Visuals of actors dancing in black coats and lawyer gowns have also been cited as disrespectful.

The PIL seeks either the removal of objectionable content or a stay on the movie’s release.

Allahabad HC’s Earlier Ruling

Earlier this month, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a similar plea against Bhai Vakeel Hai. The court found “nothing objectionable” in the song’s lyrics or the teaser and refused to interfere with the film’s release, calling the petition baseless.
