It’s been three months since Josh Duggar was found guilty of possessing and receiving child pornography.
Currently, the 34-year-old is behind bars awaiting an April sentencing hearing.
He faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
While the trial came to a close back in December, new information about Josh’s crimes and the investigation that brought them to a halt is still coming to light.
We learned last week, for example, that one of Josh’s molestation victims tried to fight him off during his attacks.
The victims were not identified in court, as they were underage at the time of the attacks.
Still, we can conclude based on the information that was provided that it was one of Josh’s sisters who attempted to ward off his attacks, a scene almost too horrible to contemplate.
Now, it seems that the girls’ resistance to their brothers’ sexual assaults didn’t end there.
We learned during the trial that Josh’s parents lied when they claimed, back in 2015, that they decided on their own to go to the police after they learned that Josh had molested five young girls, four of whom were his sisters.
A family friend named Bobye Holt took the stand and testified that she and several other fellow parishioners at the Duggars’ church pressured Jim Bob and Michelle to report Josh’s crimes.
Holt and company were not, however, the first to tell Jim Bob and Michelle about their son’s attacks on his sisters.
Jim Bob and Michelle apparently already knew of the attacks, and now, fans think they might have figured out how they learned of the horrible acts that were taking place under their roof.
In her testimony, Holt revealed that the Duggars were made aware of Josh’s attacks when one of his victims woke up during his assault, struck him, and ran to tell her parents.
“He told me she snitched on him,” Holt told the court.
Since Jill Duggar was the eldest of Josh’s victims, it was widely believed that she was the one who alerted Jim Bob and Michelle.
Now, that theory seems to have been bolstered by a resurfaced clip from 19 Kids and Counting.
In the scene from a 2014 episode of the Duggars’ original reality show, Josh derided Jill as a Josh noted that Jill was a “tattle tale” who often “ran” to tell them of her siblings’ bad behavior.
At the time, fans didn’t think much of Josh labelling Jill the family snitch.
These days, however, it seems that the comment might not have been as lighthearted as it seemed at the time.
And that’s not the only evidence that Jill was the whistleblower.
The first mention of Josh’s crimes came in a 2007, when an anonymous blogger known only as “Alice” detailed the attacks in a post that’s since been deleted.
Alice claimed that it was the Duggars’ “second daughter” who told her parents that Josh was molesting his sisters.
Jill is Jim Bob and Michelle’s second-oldest daughter, behind only Jana, who was apparently never victimized by Josh.
All of this aligns with what we already know about Jill’s tense relationship with the rest of her family and may help to explain why she cut ties with Jim Bob and Michelle back in 2019.
