Robust connectivity for uninterrupted services is of significant importance for the signaling and telecommunication setup of the railway system. The performance of the entire network is directly dependent on this aspect, as it prevents intra-train collisions and derailments.

Digitalization efforts in the railway sector have picked up pace and the focus is primarily on the most crucial aspects. The authorities are striving for efficient management of resources and operations to improve the user experience.

The trend is catching up in different European countries, with the dynamics of the industry changing fast due to the pandemic-related issues and volatility. A Munic-based AI company ‘Konux’ combines Machine Learning algorithms and IoT to deliver software-as-a-service for operation, monitoring and maintenance process automation. The company develops customized solutions to support railway operators in improving their digitalization efforts.

On the back of these solutions, Konux enables advancement in safety and security across all the aspects of the railways, such as construction, operations and maintenance. The German company has received funding from several investment firms, including Luxembourg-based Boundary Holding, led by Rajat Khare.

It is no secret that digitalization has enhanced the operations of several industries and the railway sector is no exception. Today, the trains have access to hi-tech capabilities like Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The authorities are now able to transmit more data from trackside to control centres. Such developments are enabling urban rail to manage critical infrastructure even more efficiently.
