Well, Khloe Kardashian is nothing if not trusting.
But when it comes to Tristan Thompson, she might have ignored one red flag too many.
As you’ve likely heard by now, Tristan is being sued for paternity by Maralee Nichols, a Houston-based personal trainer.
Nichols, who just welcomed her child last week, says the baby was conceived on Thompson’s 30th birthday in March.
While they’re once again separated these days, Khloe and Tristan were reportedly still together at the time of his dalliance with Nichols.
Needless to say, Khloe is experiencing quite a range of negative emotions these days, but insiders say she’s mostly furious with herself for giving Tristan another chance.
“Khloe was upset to find out that he cheated again,” a source close to the situation tells People magazine.
“She just can’t believe that he is going to be a dad again,” the insider adds.
“She is just a really great person and wants to see the positive in people.”
The source says that Khloe’s family feels just as duped, having welcomed Tristan back into the fold following multiple previous cheating scandals.
“Khloe’s family always tried to support her,” the insider adds.
“They always treated Tristan well even after he broke Khloe’s heart multiple times.”
“Khloe feels like the biggest fool in the world when it comes to Tristan. She’s pinned all her hopes on this one guy, and once again, her dreams are shattered,” a different insider tells In Touch.
“And that’s after countless red flags and warnings from her closest friends and family. She’s humiliated and devastated.”
Details of Tristan and Maralee’s tryst are abundant, thanks to her paternity suit.
In recently-filed court documents, Tristan admitted to sleeping with Nichols, but he continues to deny that he is the father of her children.
“When we got to my hotel room, we immediately had sexual intercourse. Petitioner [Nichols] initiated our sexual contact and never objected to our having sexual intercourse,” the filing reads.
“She was very awake and conscious and did not exhibit any signs that she was other than a willing participant in our sexual activities,’
Tristan says that was the only time they had sex, a claim that’s disputed by Nichols’ lawyer, who says Thompson and Nichols carried on a five-month affair.
Text messages that Tristan sent to Maralee were also revealed in court.
“You know how I feel. My feelings haven’t changed at all. Wont [sic] be involved at all. Btw if you think having this baby is gonna make you some money,” Thompson wrote at one point.
“It’s completely wrong. You are aware that I’m retiring after this season. So in terms of support it will be whatever is required monthly for someone who’s unemployed. It’s texas so it will be only a couple hundred dollars,” he continued.
At that point, Thompson offered Nichols a $75,000, presumably in exchange for her getting an abortion.
“So you better off taking this 75k I’m offering cause you won’t get nothing near that with having a kid with a father who’s unemployed,” he wrote.
“All you will have is a baby with a father who has zero involvement with the child and a few hundred dollars of child support a month.”
Insiders say Khloe’s humiliation is exacerbated by the fact that this is not the first time that Tristan has been caught cheating.
The most recent incident occurred when Tristan was caught sleeping with Jordyn Woods, who was, at that time, the best friend of Kylie Jenner.
Kylie kicked Jordyn out of her life, but Khloe gave Tristan another chance.
Needless to say, it didn’t end well.
While they previously forgave the guy right along with her, these days Khloe’s family has soured on Tristan.
Sources have indicated that Khloe feels judged for repeatedly allowing Tristan back into her life despite his many, many transgressions.
But while she might feel that Kim and company simply can’t understand her thought process, Khloe is receiving uncritical support from a pseudo-relative.
Over the weekend, Khloe posted a photo of a bouquet of flowers that was sent to her by none other than Scott Disick.
Scott, as you’re probably aware, is the father of Kourtney’s three children.
He hasn’t handled the news of his ex’s engagement to Travis Barker well, and he was reported to be on the outs with Kourt’s family, with whom he had previously been close.
Insiders say Scott felt particularly betrayed by Khloe, as the two of them had developed a close friendship over the years, and he felt that she should have given him advance warning about the engagement.
The flowers — coupled with Khloe’s declaration of love for Kourtney’s baby daddy — have led to rumors of Disick flirting with his ex’s sister.
But it seems far more likely that Scott’s gesture was simply intended to make Khloe feel less alone.
And we’re sure it was very much appreciated, as this must be a very lonely time for True’s mother.
